Staff

Build your relationships with your fellow staff members and be willing to ask for advice and learn from their techniques and experiences.

Techniques

Relationships

Every person has their own insights and every school has a beautiful collection of knowledge, talent and expertise. Make time to connect with other staff members (teachers, secretary, educational assistants, counselors and so on), building strong relationships which opens up opportunities to ask for their advice.

Observations

If at all possible, observe other classes where teachers interact with your or other students, allowing yourself to see other forms of classroom management, other forms of engaging students. You may have moments where you see your students completely engaged in this other class and take a note of the subject, style of activity and so on to better understand what you can do to engage your student.

If you are not able to view other classes, observe how other staff members interact with students. There may be moments where you realize their unique ability to connect to a student and watch how they do that!
